How do you put Works Council elections top of mind within your organisation?

You've put in the hard work to get the election up and running. Used ORvox to generate a timeline. Informed the trade unions and the Director. Recruited candidates. And now? How do you actually get your colleagues to vote?

  1. Try to reach your colleagues through as many different channels as possible. The power of repetition, think of it like the Teletubbies.
  2. Let the candidates campaign. As well as you doing your best, it's also up to the candidates themselves to draw attention to the election. Give them tips on how to win as many votes as possible. Stir up a little healthy competition!
  3. Activate the Director. Bottom-up is important, of course, but don't forget to get some top-down communication out there too. When the Director and management team tell people why they think it matters to have a strong works council that thinks along with the organisation (and with its employees) colleagues get to hear it from the other side of the table for a change.
  4. Set a target. How high would you want voter turnout to be? The average turnout in Dutch general elections is around 80%. Would that be a great score for your organisation too? Activate employees, team managers and managers alike. And of course, make voting as easy as possible. Not on a specific day in a booth at a single location, but simply from your laptop, tablet or phone. With a unique link, via a secure tool. Which we happen to have ready for you.
